Όταν πήγα στην Βουδαπέστη ήμουν αποφασισμένος να φωτογραφήσω αυτό το τραμ με τα χιλιάδες φωτάκια. Ήξερα το δρομολόγιο, την τροχιά, ήξερα τα πάντα, χρόνο δεν είχα! Είχα πάει με την οικογένειά μου και δεν ήθελα να την αφήνω γιορτινές μέρες μόνη και να μουρμουρίζει.
Είχα μία ευκαιρία, μία στάση, ένα τελευταίο δρομολόγιο. Όταν έφτασα έφευγε…. Έστησα τρίποδο υπολόγισα χρόνο χρονομετρώντας άλλα αμάξια και περίμενα ελπίζοντας να γυρίσει. Και γύρισε !

When I went to Budapest, I was determined to photograph this tram with the thousands of lights.
I knew the route, the track, I knew everything—what I didn’t have was time! I was there with my family, and I didn’t want to leave them alone during the holidays and have them grumbling.
I had one chance, one stop, one last route. When I arrived, it was leaving… I set up the tripod, calculated the exposure time by timing other cars, and waited, hoping it would come back.
And it did !
